Panama By moy Tropical diseases were common during the building of the Panama Canal.[1] That, along with engineering problems, seemed to halt the pace of its construction.[2] Common diseases were majorly malaria and yellow fever.[3] Governments tried all they could to contain these diseases but even the French had not been successful as their efforts to build the cin the 1880s were thrawted.[4] These two diseases incapacitated the workers and led to about 20, 000 of them dying hence the French abandoned their goal in 1889.[5] ...
